Pazhayannur Bhagavathi Temple is located at Pazhayannur Thrissur DT in Kerala. It is dedicated to the Goddess Bhagavathi. The ancient Prathista was Lord PALLIPURATHAPPAN (Lord Mahavishnu) the goddess is seated in the Thidappilli. Once the King of Kochi such an ardent devotee of goddess went to Kasi for Darsan. In his advice the goddess decided to go over to Kochi. But enroute, the goddess changed her mind and chose to stay there UNNIYALTHARA (Sreemoola Sthanam). Later a temple was constructed there by the king of Kochi who accepted the goddess as the deity of his dynasty. The main festivals are Arattu, Niramaala, Navarathri Vilakku (temple is illuminated by oil lamps). Everyday begins with the slokas chanted by M.S. Subalakshmi.
