Sreemoola Sthanam is protected and kept clean as a sacred place first devotees worship here and enter the temple. It is near to this place “PALLI VETTA” is held, killing of artificial “PIG” on the seventh day of “UTSAVAM” remembering the sign of saving people from cruel animals.

A special abode for serpants. Kuruppanmar, a special category of devotees perform Poojas and sing devotional songs.
PATTUKOTTIL (KOOTHAMBALAM)
This exists at the right side of Devi. This is where “Bhadra Kali”s (DURGA) presence seen during Utsava Days. Sometimes “NANGYAR KOOTHU” in the month of Medam (Mal.Era) is conducted, a ritual liked by Durga. The Devi is requested to wipe of all difficulties of human beings. The Durga Devi’s presence in the Kalam and the “Palli Val”(Sword) (Vettekkaran Oracle’s divine weapon)kept, denotes Lord Siva’s presence also in Koothambalam.
Devotees are blessed by the Devi to have good thinking and blissful life.

This temple is 100-125 mts. South of Bhagavathy Temple on the left side of the road leading to Elanad, facing West. The “Prathista” is Lord Siva’s incarnation. Sri Dharmasastha is also worshipped especially at “Sabarimala Season” 41 days of mandalam are very important as devotees for “SABARIMALA” come to the temple every day. The Oracle (Komaram) mentioned above is related to this temple and breaking of coconut, Pushpanjali and Chuttuvilakku are the important Vazhipads(offerings). There will be group prayer (AKHANDA NAMAM) at the end of “Mandalam”, with poor feeding at the noon.
Deva Prasnam envisages that devotees going to Pazhayannur Temple should come to Vettekkaran Kavu also to complete the process.
